Be part Downtown Racine’s vibrant art scene during this special walking tour of galleries & studios on Saturday April 21st from 4-8pm. It is sure to be a creative evening of shopping, dining and fun! See demonstrations by local artists, shop for the perfect piece of art, enjoy live music, and sample some of Racine’s finest cuisine. Two pop up wine bars from Uncorkt will treat you along the way and encourage you to explore all 11 venues within a 4 block area. Whether a date night or a family outing, DRAW has something for everyone to enjoy!
Hot Shop Glass, 239 Wisconsin Avenue, welcomes the incredibly talented Matthew Urban for a one-night show of his work & special collaborative demonstrations with staff, students & alum of the Prairie School. Matthew is a renowned glass artist, with stints teaching at prestigious glass schools around the country including Penland School of Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School and the Corning Museum of Glass. A special night of collaboration is planned as experienced and emerging glass artists from The Prairie School join Matthew & the team at Hot Shop Glass in collaboration to create blown glass to donate to the upcoming Premier event to benefit the schools scholarship program.

Metal clay is a crafting medium consisting of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze, or copper mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewelry, beads and small sculptures.
Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts, 306 Main St., will be featuring a new exhibit by photographic artist Scott D. Olsen, MyEyes Photography, “A Tour of Black & White Through MyEyes” presented on various media. Art Metals Studio, 332 Main Street, will be featuring new creations in mokume-gane by metalsmith and jewelry designer Christopher Sklba. This traditional Japanese technique utilizes multi-color metals which are forged to create a variety of patterns. The resulting metals are used as decorative as a well as structural elements in new pieces created expressly for the Art Walk Event. Stop in to see the newest work by our in-house metalsmiths and learn about this amazing metalsmithing technique.

Dimples Fine Imports, 416 Main Street, features the work of artist Vandana Gala from Mumbai, India. Inspired by human ecology, Vandana’s work uses multiple mediums including chalk paints, carved wood & ceramic, paper cutting & sculpting, plastic, metal, powder paints & acrylic to create her vision of the relationship between humans, their varied systems of interaction and the environment.
At Racine Art Museum, 441 Main Street, the exhibition Beasts: Wild Animals in RAM’s Collection examines how artists are drawn to depicting wild, dangerous, and sometimes invented animals. A walk through this exhibition is like an art safari of real and imaginary beasts. Artists featured render their creatures realistically, sweetly, abstractly, or symbolically, often to explore larger issues about the environment, humanity, society, and culture.
