April Art Extravaganza!

Downtown Racine Art Walk – April 27th 4-8pm

 

 

The vibrant and diverse art community of Downtown Racine is showcased during the Downtown Racine Art Walk (DRAW) on Saturday, April 27th from 4-8pm.

 

During DRAW, be immersed in a community overflowing with locally owned galleries, shops and studios. Ten of the most creative locations in all of Racine welcome visitors for an evening of art exploration. Meet the artists, get a behind the scenes look at their creative process and watch them work their magic – all while enjoying complimentary wine at three pop-up wine bars hosted by Uncorkt. Explore everything Downtown Racine’s art scene has to offer this spring and be sure to support local artists with your purchases.

 

Art Metals Studio

Art Metals Studio, located at 332 Main Street, will be exhibiting new collaborative work from their in-house artists Christopher Sklba, Emily Jones and Mallory Olesen Willing. The newest works will feature Mokume-gane, a traditional Japanese technique of patterned multi-colored metals combined with natural colored gemstones and diamonds. Their 2019 limited edition pendant will also be available, with a portion of sales proceeds going to the Racine County Food Bank.

Artists Gallery

The Artists Gallery, located at 401 Main Street, will be host to students from various Racine Unified schools, guest artists and member artists demonstrating various art mediums. Stop in and meet the students whose work will be on display and chat with the members. The Artists Gallery is Racine’s oldest cooperative gallery celebrating 21 years in Downtown Racine.

Funky Hannah’s

See the latest beach glass and stone jewelry from the designers at Funky Hannah’s, located at 324 Main Street. Artist & staff designer, DeAnna Poelmann, will demonstrate how to drill beach glass and stones, inspiring visitors with the latest earrings, bracelets and necklaces. These are created with found objects from our lakefront and available for purchase.

Hot Shop Glass

Glass blowing demonstrations are always a big hit for visitors to Hot Shop Glass, located at 239 Wisconsin Ave. As an added bonus for this event, special guest artist/ furniture up-cycler and entrepreneurial high schooler, Taylor Knaus, will be in the house with her latest creative finds. Check out her business, Flip’n Unique, at Hot Shop Glass one night only during DRAW.

Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts

Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts, located at 306 Main Street, will be hosting multimedia artist, Sherry Lou, as she launches her Spring Shattered Glass Art Collection. The pieces in this collection are created using a patented technique, giving a unique finish to printed or painted art. Join us to view this spectacular collection and meet our featured artist, Sherry Lou.

Northern Lights Gallery

Northern Lights Gallery, located at 423 Main Street, will feature ceramic artist, Julie Schilf. Julie is an artist, potter and graphic designer from Pleasant Prairie who makes decorative, functional and funky pottery. She enjoys creating pieces that convey a sense of strength, vitality and aliveness.

Plumb Gold

Plumb Gold, located at 322 Main Street, features a fantastic collection of natural gems…”Earth’s Art”. Come see their vast array of colors, shapes and learn how you can create your very own one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry.

Twice Baked Pottery

Twice Baked Pottery, located at 320 Main Street, will have live pottery throwing demonstrations throughout the day. Come and watch as Scott makes bowls, vases and who knows what else right before your eyes. Afterwards, shop their gallery and find one-of-a-kind artwork, mugs, soup cups and bakeware for yourself or for the perfect gift.

Racine Art Museum

Visit RAM, located at 441 Main Street, and enjoy current exhibits with free admission from 4pm until 8pm. Be sure to discover a special collaboration with Varitay Studios beginning at 5pm.

Varitay Studios

Varitay Studios, located at 410 Main Street, creates art and magic through beautiful authentic images everyday. For this spring’s DRAW event we are setting up a pop-up studio at RAM between 5-8pm. Coinciding with the museum’s “Exploring Portraits from RAM’S Collection,” come hang out with us as we create a magazine worthy photo shoot experience with our team of models and hair/makeup artists. Witness high fashion portraiture in the making.
