Demonstrations in our Hot Shop!

Demonstrations in our Hot Shop!

Watching the process of 2000º molten glass being turned into art right before your eyes is pretty mesmerizing!  The team at Hot Shop Glass loves to share their knowledge and experience working with this material with groups both large & small.  We’ve put together a fun one hour program guaranteed to entertain & educate visitors of all ages.  From school groups, tour buses,  art guilds & collectors we can customize a program to meet your interests.  Our facility is spacious, well lit and historically cool (built in the 1880’s!) We can seat up to 50 people.   The cost is $150.   For small groups, or groups without a budget, we do demonstrations open to the public every First Friday of the month from 4-8:30pm April to December.  It is not as formal, but it’s still cool.

Hot Shop Glass is a popular spot for groups coming to tour Racine!  Usually is some combo of Johnson Wax, The Lighthouse, Kringle & of course our hot shop!  In early March we welcomed a group from Fond du Lac — We had a lot of fun as we shared our love of glass with the group.  Here is a photo of the ruffled bowl and car part glass made by Amanda & Jeremy.

Here’s a peek at the creations made during a demonstration February 13th.  We promised the kids we’d post photos so they could see the finished results!  Ruffled bowl by Amanda, pumpkin by Dan & smoke and fire glass blown in the car part by Jeremy.
